Learning term

HSTS — DNS, TLS, CDN, and tunnels

HSTS: An HTTP header instructing browsers to use HTTPS exclusively for a period. This card shows its role in “DNS, TLS, CDN, and tunnels” and a safe diagnostic path.

DNS, TLS, CDN, and tunnelsLevel 0–3

Orientation

HSTS: An HTTP header instructing browsers to use HTTPS exclusively for a period. At this level, separate purpose, input, and visible result. Place HSTS within DNS, TLS, CDN, and tunnels before changing settings or files.

Exercise

Try it safely

When a public HTTPS address fails, separately check DNS response, certificate chain, tunnel state, access policy, and origin response relevant to HSTS. Open an isolated test environment and run “getent hosts example.com && curl -Iv https://example.com”. Write down the expected output first, do not alter production data, and record one safe next diagnostic step.

getent hosts example.com && curl -Iv https://example.com

Quick check

Can you explain the purpose, observable state, and most common failure source of HSTS — DNS, TLS, CDN, and tunnels in one sentence each? Which evidence would you preserve before changing anything, and which repeated test would prove that the correction actually worked?
