Try it safely

When a service cannot start or open a file, compare process identity, ownership, permissions, and limits relevant to PID with the expected state. Open an isolated test environment and run “ps -eo pid,ppid,user,stat,cmd | head”. Write down the expected output first, do not alter production data, and record one safe next diagnostic step.
